GESTIX / PURCHASING
What do you
need to buy?
Start with what
you know.
Customers are waiting. Some stock is on the shelf. More may already be on order. Bring those facts together before deciding what to ask your supplier for.
01 / “HOW MUCH SHOULD WE ORDER?”
The same demand.
Three different decisions.
Fifteen packs of filters still to supply. The buying quantity changes with what you hold, the safety stock you maintain and what is already on order. Explore how each situation changes the suggestion.
3 situations to exploreSelect a situation to compare the suggested quantity.
Nothing held. Nothing coming.
Start with fifteen.
With no stock, no safety-stock requirement and no pending purchases, the suggested quantity matches the fifteen packs customers still need.
Six held. Four on order.
Seven more suggested.
Six packs are already held and four are on order. Allowing for two packs of safety stock, the suggestion is seven more, rather than fifteen.
The supply is already covered.
No more suggested.
The six packs held and eleven already on order cover demand plus safety stock. No additional purchase is suggested for this example. Pending supply is not yet received stock.
Explanatory examples, not live stock or purchasing screens. Gestix shows positive purchase needs as editable suggestions; zero means no purchase suggestion for this example. Pending purchases do not establish supplier delivery dates.
02 / “WHAT DO CUSTOMERS STILL NEED?”
Let the remaining
quantities guide you.
A customer may have ordered ten and already received four. Outstanding demand is the remaining quantity, not the original order total. Gestix’s purchase suggestions can use that outstanding demand alongside stock and pending purchases.
This real order demonstrates the demand input. It is separate from the illustrative filter-pack situations above.
03 / “LET’S CHECK BEFORE WE BUY.”
A useful suggestion.
Your team’s decision.
In an eligible supplier Purchase Order or Quotation, use purchase suggestions from outstanding customer orders. Bring the suggested quantities into editable purchase lines and review them before proceeding.
A suggestion does not automatically create a purchase order. Your team adds and reviews the proposed lines in the document being prepared.
-
01
Choose the supplier.
Start in an eligible supplier purchase document, with the supplier selected.
-
02
Review the need.
Consider outstanding demand, stock, safety stock and purchases already pending. Where useful, aggregate demand by article.
-
03
Work with editable lines.
Add the suggestions to the purchase document. Review and adjust the proposed quantities.
Explanatory workflow. Available actions depend on the document, enabled features and configuration.
BUYING IS ONE STEP. SUPPLYING IS ANOTHER.
The purchase is planned.
The customer order stays open.
Adding purchase suggestions does not fulfil customer orders or reserve stock for them. A saved purchase order is pending supply, not received goods. Keep the next customer delivery as its own operational step.
